I bought these for Thanksgiving so we can throw them away when we're done. They are of much better quality than paper plates or cheap plastic plates from the store. Silver on plates and utensils adds a touch of elegance to the fact that you are using disposable products. It makes you feel great! The reason for deducting a star is due to two issues. 1) You are a bit thin. That's no big deal for most dishes, but on Thanksgiving, when you've amassed enough portions to feed a small army, the brittleness becomes a little more apparent, even if the plate is just for you. None of our party of 17 complained about it. Quite the opposite, they loved them all, but I told everyone to fold the plates in half so they're really strong. This worked great, but was a bit disappointing. Again, I could just put a medium-sized portion on my plate and I'd be fine. 2) I bought packs and both came with a few cracked panels. The panels that cracked were only the outer ones (top and bottom panels). Things like turkey juice or gravy leaked through those cracks, so I threw the plates away. I attribute the cracks to something hitting them in storage or in transit. If they were a bit thicker they certainly wouldn't tear, but overall a few tears weren't the deciding factor. I WILL buy these same plates again next year and every year thereafter (for every occasion I need them) as they were awesome. I am very happy.
