Review on Dell UltraSharp 2209WA Black Widescreen Monitor - Enhanced for Wide Screen Experience by Jack Paisley

I've had my 2209WA for about 10 months now and am enjoying every minute of it. This is the first monitor that allowed me to finally ditch my trusty £50 Sony Trinitron after enduring the LCD revolution. I discovered the difference between different types of LCD panels after purchasing an established LCD (from a competitor) only to experience the horrible color reproduction, 6-bit posterization and vertical viewing angle* issues of the TN panel find. The 2209WA has none of these problems. As a photographer, I like the accurate reproduction of colors and other details of the image. A common problem I've found (even with other Dell panels) is that they often over-sharpen the incoming image without being able to turn it off, but the 2209WA displays accurate pixel representation without attempting to "blur" the image. improve". Light gray is different from white and dark gray is different from black. The gradients are smooth and not posterized. As an FPS gamer and video editor, I have never noticed ghosting or trailing. TN panels are traditionally considered the "fastest" panels, but this e-IPS panel is fast enough for watching videos and playing games of all kinds. = 50, Dynamic Contrast = Off *On many LCD screens, colors and contrast change from top to bottom depending on the viewer's position on the screen. Google "Lagom LCD Viewing Angle Test" to see how your LCD panel responds to vertical movement and test this test using several different panel types and a CRT as a reference. On the 2209WA this image fits perfectly from top to bottom (and all other IPS displays I think).
