UPDATE after 3 months of daily use: star removal. I hoped it wouldn't, but I suspected: the velcro was starting to fail and the collar won't keep the size my dog needs. Also, the ends of the fabric covering the upholstery began to fray and tear. It comes off easily with scissors, but I've never bought a collar that breaks as easily as this one. About as fast as the plastic piece with the dog tags fell off. To be honest I'm not exactly sure which was faster. My dog's neck is 17 inches and weighs about 50 pounds. We booked Wednesday. If you're in the same boat, order a big one. Do plan on putting labels on the D-ring as the piece of plastic they provide for labels appears to be decorative only. The overall lifespan is hard to say, but I remain an optimist. Although I wear the collar for less than two hours, it can be adjusted with the Velcro. I have a feeling I'll be using a rivet gun to soften the velcro soon. If so, there will be a rivet gun review soon.
