Despite a very bad review, I decided to buy it for my Midland GTX1000 radios. I would give this speaker mic 5 stars but it has one big problem and one small quirk. 1) The output sound level or decibels is too low for this speaker microphone. Even with almost no ambient noise, you'll need to bring it to your ear to hear anything clearly. So if cars are making noise or cars are driving by, forget it, you can also mute the speaker mic and use the radio's own speaker. 2) The speaker mic, while looking pretty solid, seems to be too small for my husband. hand size. I prefer powerful Motorola microphones. However, I suspect the real problem is that these aren't Midland-branded mics. I think in this case it's true what they say, you get what you pay for.
