Review on Waterproof Smartwatch With GPS For Outdoor Activities - TicWatch S2, Wear OS By Google, Compatible With Android And IOS (Black) by David Burns

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good alternative to a stand-alone activity tracker

As a satisfied owner of the new Ticwatch Pro 4G/LTE by Mobvoi, I decided to add the Ticwatch S2 to my collection primarily because of the Military Standard 810G and 5 ATM waterproof ratings. For the (relatively) low price, I thought it would be good for when I’m doing activities that where the watch might get banged around. While I haven’t had the chance to test the ruggedness of the watch yet, I’ve been wearing it for a couple of days now and am relatively pleased with it. While not as "smooth” running as its more expensive cousin (sibling?), it runs Wear OS nicely. The screen is sharp and bright, and the single, rectangular button on the right-side presses in with a pleasing click (it is also textured, making it easy to find by feel). The case is very thick, with a large bezel surrounding the face, presumably due to its design as an active watch (although the Pro similarly thick, which I attested to the built-in LTE radio). It did not look overly big on my smallish wrist but, it might seem a bit oversized on a petite woman. Despite its size, it does not feel heavy to wear.I did not experience the 2+ day battery life… At the end of a workday, the battery lasted about 16 hours with about 14% life left. This was acceptable for me as I was constantly checking emails and text messages, had the heartrate sensor set for constant checking, and the display set for "always on” (I did use the ambient face though). At a price-point of less than $200, the S2 is a good alternative to a stand-alone activity tracker and a nice entry point for someone interested in getting a smartwatch but, not ready to splurge on the more expensive, high-end options.
