Review on 🚰 Stay Hydrated with the CamelBak Ratchet Hydration Pack, 100oz by Jeff Rubio

Great backpack for road bikes.

I have a small Columbia pack that I use with a 50 ounce Cammelback for winter skiing with an insulated tube. It needs to be isolated otherwise it will freeze unless alcohol is added, but there was a problem. Too big for it, so I bought this version. Reason number one is that the hose is DETACHABLE which some other models don't have. Also, the large 3 liter tank has a baffle inside to prevent water from splashing from side to side, which is very useful. The detachable hose was a must for me as I can swap it out for the insulated hose I have or use a smaller reservoir with this backpack. The backpack is great for cycling, is not bulky, has a chest cross strap and a hip cross strap so that the backpack doesn't slip when riding. The bottom half also has additional pockets that are great for storing keys, a credit card or two, a patch kit, or a wallet while you ride. I'm very happy with it and like it better than the Rogue I had a few years ago as the extra zippered pocket on the bottom doesn't really add weight but adds to the backpack's usefulness. I also tried a few other models but they didn't have a detachable hose which as mentioned is very versatile, allows changing hoses or bags and makes cleaning and drying much easier. open to allow air in and dry out the bladder and has a hose attachment.

Pros
  • Crux delivers 20% more water per sip with an ergonomic handle for easy filling and an on/off lever to prevent spills.
Cons
  • Good, but not great
