Bought a Singer 251-12 lockstitch machine for my mom, her go-to machine. She has been a professional dressmaker/seamstress for over 35 years, has had several high end clients, done all kinds of crazy projects (until she retired with her own business) and has always used a clutch motor. She has one of those "if it works don't fix it" attitude. I set it up as a surprise for her and she doesn't regret giving up the clutch motor. To use it I had to use a 40" belt which was smaller than the one used in the old motor (your may be different). The motor bolted straight in, only had to cut off one of the carriage bolts to clean the motor. She says she has a lot more control of the machine at low speeds, she also sews a lot faster than the clutch motor, and not having to hear the constant noise of the clutch motor is a big plus. Hope this helps someone with their solution. If there are any problems, I will unsubscribe here.
