I have taken it on and off once and the nut that fits on the boat is already showing signs of wear. The wrench tool is steel, the part of the nut that engages the brass or bronze tool (and bracket) is very soft, you have to be EXTREMELY careful to make sure the wrench is engaged and not one iota from a piece slips. I can't imagine putting this thing on and off more than 4-5 times before it becomes useless, hopefully if it doesn't secure your brace to the boat. It seems to fit securely, as far as I know the soft metal may be a feature and not a fault as it will likely prevent someone from simply inserting steel bars to lock the lock without a key as this will chew on the brass. fast enough. If you have an application where you need to switch props, I wouldn't recommend this.
