As a grown man I bought these to record things I think or remember while in the shower as I often forget my thoughts about the shower when I get out of the shower come and it can take notes on paper or on the phone. Unsurprisingly, darker colors work better than lighter ones. What surprised me is that they only really write when completely dry AND on a dry surface, which is odd considering they are intended for use in the bathroom. When wet, they are completely useless. The design is also not of the subtleties. The wax part is MUCH shorter than expected and doesn't hold very well in the plastic body of the crayon, often detaching and falling out. I only picked them because they have the highest ratings. It's hard to imagine that others are much worse
