Exactly as promised by the manufacturer, high quality.

It took me a long time to purchase this lens, I’m not a professional photographer, and such an expensive purchase for the sake of hobby required strong arguments, along the way I tried the Nikon D7100 the following analogues - Nikon 35mm f / 1.8G AF-S DX Nikkor (was fired for the worst work compared to the d7000 ), Sigma AF 30mm f / 1.4 DC HSM Art Nikon F (accidentally successfully sold), Nikon 28mm f / 1.8G AF-S Nikkor (we didn’t agree on the characters, it turned out to be too complicated in terms of good work with an open aperture, and wide for a staffer on a crop). So I use the Sigma AF 35mm f/1.4 as a stock lens on the D7100, the lens produces a very sharp detailed image directly from the open aperture, has a very nice, soft "pattern" in the blur zone. On covered apertures, sharpness is simply amazing, and this is on a small-pixel matrix with the highest pixel density in the class. This lens is designed to work with modern cameras with a small pixel and has a large "margin" in terms of resolution. The color is neutral, distortion is almost not noticeable. In all respects, it surpasses the above analogues (lenses close in focal length). I bought a lens with a USB DOCK station for flashing and adjusting autofocus, it took 1 time to ate the lens firmware. There were no horror stories with autofocus, an amendment is installed in the camera, and then it’s more like a crooked carcass than glass. In the very operation of autofocus, there are unpleasant moments on low-contrast monochromatic objects (I think native glasses would have difficulties there) and when working in backlight (the impression that AF sensors are "blind" is also not alien to relatives) and probably many will think that I am writing nonsense, but the presence of yellow in the focus area leads to front focus, I checked it on purpose. There are no other problems with glass. It focuses fast enough (but slower than 28mm) and very quiet. You will find samples of photos in my albums, all of the above is MY PERSONAL OPINION, which does not claim to be the opinion of last resort

Pros
  • - optical qualities (sharpness, lack of XA, microcontrast, low distortion) - quality of materials and workmanship - Adequate price for such a quality item - compatible with usb dock station for self-tuning autofocus for a specific camera and ating the lens firmware
Cons
  • - there is no dust and moisture protection, even the simplest rubber ring on the bayonet - oddities in the autofocus - on FF, the vignette is probably quite significant
