I've been dreaming of a pair of Belgian Baudoin & Lange loafers for a number of years, but I've never been able to bring myself to spend so much money on a dainty, easily cared for pair of shoes that are rarely worn in my harsh environment. and become a part of the world. However, at $79, the Journey West version is much more attractive. Sure, quality comes at a price, but this shoe reproduces the look of the classic B&L Sagan very well. The shoes are exceptionally comfortable, although perhaps a bit too big. I usually wear a 9.5/10 depending on the brand/last and I usually buy 9.5 moccasins as they cannot be tightened if they are a bit loose. Regardless, these shoes are still a bit loose at 9.5. They can be worn with thick socks but I probably should have ordered a 9. The construction is solid and the overall quality is about what you would expect for the price. The suede was slightly worn out of the box even though the shoes were packaged fairly well and you can expect some abrasion from the suede. Nothing that can't be brushed off with a suede brush. In general I am very satisfied. I cut off the tassels because I live in a part of the world where I would be ridiculed for wearing them, but with or without the tassels I think they look pretty cool.
