I bought this specifically to use as external storage for my Xbox One which was less than 10% available when they released the update to external storage in early June to allow in 2014. If you are considering this drive as an external drive for your Xbox One system, I assure you that it will do the job perfectly! When I plugged the drive into an available USB 3.0 port on the back of my Xbox One, Xbox One immediately recognized it as an external storage device and asked if I wanted to format the drive. Formatting was very easy and very fast. The Xbox One OS also gives you the option to name the drive, which I left as the default "External" so you can differentiate between internal storage and external storage. Another nice feature is that Xbox One gives you the option to keep adding new content to your external drive until it's full. If you select this option, whatever is installed from now on will be installed on the external drive if one is connected. It's a great drive, very quiet, very fast and I have no problem playing games on it instead of the internal drive. Again, if you are considering an external storage option for Xbox One, go for it!
