This is a medium size which is smaller which means the medium size is true to size and doesn't leave more room. I'm usually average, but I've gained a bit of weight lately, so I don't find that very flattering. Of course, that has nothing to do with the quality of the thing. The hood is not heavy, the fur part is open. I wore this in Europe (February), it rained almost every day but the fur piece never looked matted or anything. It's like I bought it just yesterday. The fabric is not THAT warm for Europe. I still need thermal underwear and 2 shirts or a sweatshirt and gloves. The jacket works in temperate climates like the Bay Area, but as said, it's not warm enough for Europe, especially in winter. I have one complaint that she is very fluffy and I don't find it easy to pack in my suitcase. I have to take it with me everywhere. I suggest buying a plastic bag for the clothes compressor. i love bags There are hand pockets for when it gets chilly and buttoned pockets so you can safely stash your wallet or phone inside. Many times I almost panicked because my wallet wasn't in my pocket. Buttons made them safer. I find this green color extremely trite now. Every girl has this jacket color. Black would be better. Edit (2021): Do not wash the fur-lined nozzle, and once washed, do not dry. Mine looks like sheep's wool now.
