This cable performs exactly as expected, allowing for both charging and data transfer. I bought this cable specifically to install a USB outlet behind the sofa leading to my PS4 console for use with a wired controller connection. This cable is male to male and the repeater is on one side of the cable which has worked great for me running it across two walls and across the attic. When I first installed it I put the shorter end from the repeater box to the side of the console, tried it out and found I had a charger but no data, I twisted the cable (the long end to the console from the repeater) to the console and BINGO it worked! So to save you loads of time by learning from my mistake! Aside from the complete lack of guides and information on the web, this is a great cable!
