Comparison between Kasa and Nest for security and surveillance

So first, let me say that I'm not a newbie to visual home security. I bought the Nest after testing it for a long time and because I naturally wanted to continue my products, as I've only had good experiences with our Nest Learning Thermostat and our Nest Protection Carbon Monoxide/Smoke Detector. I bought them to be able to see my house from a distance. I first bought the Nest and it was easy to install and I was very happy, however I did notice that the speaker wasn't as good as I had hoped. It sounded muffled and almost like it was messed up, but I figured, well, it'll do, but at $450 for 3 cameras I was a bit upset. I was also upset because I found out I have to pay for a Nest Awareness subscription, so I contacted Nest and they told me I would have to buy a service through them for each camera, which was coming out more than I'd like. pay for Netflix per month and it was the cheapest plan. That's how I came across Kasa, I was looking for smart sockets as we like to travel from time to time and I like to leave the lights on at home. I stumbled across Kasa products and ordered four smart plugs that I liked for the ease of setup and the quality of the app. When I checked I also noticed that they offered cameras, saw all the great reviews and thought why not take a shot to compare the two. Let me just say that the picture looks VERY clear and the reviewers also talked about not having to buy a surveillance subscription, which I was happy about. I receive the item, plug it into an outlet, do the same as smart plugs to connect to my wifi and app, and wait about an hour and a half for the firmware to update and it crashes, and here comes the picture. crystal clean. I placed it in the same spot as the nest cam and snapped a photo so you can see the difference in image quality from both cameras at the same angle. I also used the speaker and it sounded very clear. It's a lot clearer than the Nest and looks like someone is speaking to it on speakerphone. This is by far the best security camera I have ever seen. I have actually ordered two more to replace the socket and I will be returning them to the store as I just bought them and they are covered by the return policy. .

Pros
  • High test scores for support and durability
Cons
  • Socket required
