I bought these to protect the work surface and components when soldering. Although it protects the work surface, if the solar cell is soldered directly to the mat, the top of the mat will melt and stick to the bottom of the cell. Using a strip of tape between it and the cell works, but be aware that their "high temperature" does not involve soldering.

Pros

Soft: The material is as durable as hard laminate and as comfortable and attractive as softer rubber or vinyl mats. Conveniently folds into a bag. The 0.080 inch (2mm) thickness keeps the mat flat and prevents the edges from curling. A cooldown of 0.05 seconds ensures that static electricity is dissipated quickly and safely.
