I definitely violated the instructions for use. I used makeup remover with it and it was very mild. I usually just use a makeup remover wipe to remove all of my makeup. It's very bulky compared to what I use to remove my eye makeup, but it came in very handy for removing foundation. Cleaning the pillow with soap and water didn't seem very effective, but I like the product so much that I can just pick up another one and throw it away with my laundry after using it twice because it's reversible.
