Gradually replace dozens of can bulbs with these

We have dozens of can bulbs around our house and I buy them incandescent bulbs to fill when they burn out. Pros: 1) You are very close to incandescent bulbs. I prefer them because they appear much lighter. But they are not as warm as incandescent bulbs. This isn't noticeable unless you mix two types of lamps in close proximity. 2) They are dimmable. The headlight range does not seem to be as large and not as accurate as with incandescent bulbs. However, you can use existing dimmers, which is a big plus. 3) They are electronically "silent". Cree lightbulbs emit very little electronic noise back into your house wiring. That's good if you're like me on a powerline network. 4) The lamps are rubberized. That's a cool bonus. The bulbs are coated with a slightly sticky substance that makes them easier to screw into the limited support of the can. It's a nice little touch and a pleasure to manage. 5) The bulbs are very durable. One of the lamps was damaged during transport. Of course, it was a blow that would have broken an ordinary light bulb, but this bulb remained intact. I managed to avoid sending it back and installed it behind a translucent panel where it doesn't stand out at all. The downsides at the moment are mainly the price and a slight color difference. For me, however, they're cheap enough to pay for themselves in about a year and close enough in color to not matter. The biggest benefit is that I don't have to constantly climb stairs to change lightbulbs or nag others to turn off lights at night.

Pros
  • Lights up instantly and gives a bright, wide spread - just like an incandescent Br30
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
