Better than a cone of shame

I bought this for my 16 lb cattle dog mix. Unfortunately, his legs are so long that even with a collar, he can still get the cut if he really wants to. I actually started giving it back and was going to call my vet and get this stupid cone of shame, but I ended up getting sick and decided to keep it. We didn't put the collar through the loops because it just pulls on the collar clip where the hole is on the ring and it bothers my pup. So he wears it without, and if you pull it on as tight as you can without choking the dog (obviously) it does the job. My friend has to wear it as high on his neck as possible to make him uncomfortable chewing himself. I love that the outer cover can be removed and washed. It's been raining non stop here so I finally gotta wash it which is great that it's an option. The only other (perhaps significant) downside is that the fabric cover opens up if the neck and collar get scratched. I wouldn't normally give this a star but I have 4 dogs in total so my others try to bite the airbag inside the cover when it's opened and it also gets stuck on things if we don't notice right away. All in all, if your dog has short legs, this is definitely a great substitute for a pubic cone. BUT, if they had longer legs like my friend did, I would try to find something wider.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Not all fit
