I didn't think initially the cats would find it comfortable, but I'm not a cat. Turns out sometimes they even lay on it! It certainly cut down on the tracking of litter on the hard floor and certainly would if there was carpeting instead. Nothing more nasty than walking barefoot or in your socks and walking on litter. Very sturdy construction. I had bought two because the prior brand purchased didn't hold up and I had to throw it out. This one has worked out great, so I opted to double the floor surface area to further assure the litter tracking was even more limited. I just use the vacuum once in a while over it or opt to take it outside and shake what's in it out. I'd even considered using one of these for a front door mat.
