This pillow saves lives. I have a C-3 disc herniation. Lately I've had to sleep on my back with a rolled up bath towel under my neck. Couldn't even use my orthopedic pillow. I like that it's crowded. I only had to remove 1 cup of buckwheat to feel comfortable. Buckwheat has its own pocket, which is placed in the decorative lining; so that the other outer cover is washable. The pillow doesn't smell either.
