Pros: Good picture quality, accepts 240p/15kHz sources Cons: Significant output lag, wrong/inadequate documentation I bought this converter to connect old game consoles like SNES to my HDTV. For the most part, it's very good at that, converting both analog RGB and stereo audio to HDMI. Unlike other converters I've tried, it's compatible with the 240p screen resolution and 15kHz sync used in most pre-Dreamcast gaming consoles and upscales them to HD resolution. The resulting image is naturally blocky, but very clear and sharp, with colors that look like they perfectly match the original image. The sound quality is just as clear and precise. The output format is 4:3 without changing the aspect ratio that I could find. It has one notable downside: analog-to-HDMI conversion introduces a brief but noticeable lag. I hooked it up to multiple HDTVs with "Game Mode" support and set it to multiple output resolutions, but the lag persisted. It's not bad, but it can make split seconds like Super Mario World much harder to play. Although the manual states that the "720p/1080p" button simply toggles the two output resolutions, I've found that this is not the case. One press brings up the OSD menu and short consecutive presses cycle through multiple output resolutions like 576p, 720p, 800x600, 1024x768, etc. If your TV does not support one of the unusual resolutions, wrong signal.) May be deceiving that the converter is defective.
