My first Brooks running shoe was the PureConnect 2 which fitted my foot like a glove (wide toe, narrow heel) and was very responsive. loved this shoe. Bought the next 2 versions which for me weren't as good as PC2 but still acceptable. They discontinued the PC series and I bought the PureFlow 3 which really didn't work for me. Low toe volume and not responsive at all. A little careless. So this ricochet is my last try. The toe box is roomy and wide enough. However, I think the 8mm drop is better for heel strikes and the heel area is also a bit sloppy for me. I have a midfoot landing and very neutral alignment and don't want to develop a heel landing habit. And I have no idea why they wear that ankle brace - just for the beauty? They do nothing for support or comfort, and the achilles tendon dug into my heel the first time I put them on, causing a blister. Part of my guilt is that I'm wearing socks that are too low. Wouldn't wear it barefoot. The shoes are okay, but with each new iteration of Brooks it gets worse for me. I wish they would do something like PC2 again. I haven't tried another brand in almost a decade, but maybe it's about time. I should mention that I usually wear a 10.5 or 11, but at Brooks I've always had to go down to an 11.5 and this model is no exception.
