Paws need claws: Scratching post

My two older cats were bored and disinterested when we first bought a cardboard scratching post. It ended up unused in a corner. A little later we adopted a cute new kitten and she found him right away and went crazy with her claws. The older kittens learned what to do from her and now they all use this and our other cardboard scratching posts regularly. I love that you can hang these up so they can stretch while standing. I think sometimes it interferes with opening the door, so we just put it on the floor. A great alternative to tattered furniture and an obvious choice for the price! Nails can be annoying, but cats absolutely need them. We would never remove the claws, it's awful and can cause a lot of long-term problems. We trim our cats' claws and they can sharpen and stretch them with any scratching posts we have in the house. A win-win option for everyone! Our cats don't touch our furniture because they have an alternative. I highly recommend these cardboard cat scratching posts - almost every room has them!
