I like the look of the bag and XF design for air travel. However, I agree with other reviewers that this bag is a little small. I have used a Brenhaven Trek, which is also a lot larger, which I love. However, it is a little cumbersome while traveling with air travel. I hoped that this would work as my daily bag AND travel bag. I'm still not sure. I will take this on my next airliner business trip and see how it compares. It is possible that the extra space under the seat will be an advantage.It was surprised that I needed to slightly force my 2012 Mac Book Pro Retina in the laptop area. Not forcefully, but I worry about possibly wearing out the nylon of the sides. I am also worried about my new HP ZBook 15 G2 fitting in the compartment. MBP is 9.73" wide and the ZBook 15 is 10.1" wide. I'm less concerned with the almost inch taller size. It will be tight, but hopefully it will fit.I haven't found a good place to put pens. The two outer pockets are a little large for this. The mess pocket inside is also a little deep, and where I keep lactaid and ibuprofen. It would be nice if there were pen slots sewn into the pockets of the nylon organizer inside.I found the dedicated power supply pocket a little small as well. I had to force in my MBP charger. Again, I worry about the 130W HP charger, but I will see on Monday when my laptop arrives.
