Review on ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Space Gray Alloy Desktop Stand for Mac Mini - Tinpec Aluminum Vertical Holder with Anti-Slip Rubber Feet, Compatible with Apple MAC Mini 2010-2020 by Shane Minter

Revainrating 2 out of 5

A tolerable stand with implementation/material issues at best, but there are better options.

I purchased this stand 1.5 years ago after purchasing a Mac Mini which was known for its poor ventilation and high heat. At that time it was actually the only stand for it, and 1.5 years later I can say that if there was one, I would definitely go with it. Honestly the stand does what it says on the tin, it fits and holds the Mac Mini neatly. The design is aesthetic and functional. But apart from that, it suffers from both constructive implementation problems and a lack of mounting material: - The biggest shortcoming is that the rubber holder is not fixed or glued, it is completely loose. Move your mini anywhere and it will go with you. I had one that just slipped off the sides. Why they didn't fix this apparent problem by simply sticking it on I don't understand. The pads on the base's underside, which are supposed to hold it in place, are set too far inwards, where they barely make contact with the base. the surface it sits on, resulting in an almost complete lack of actual traction. It would be better to wrap it around the edges of the corners. The material for the base itself, while sturdy, feels so light - it's like the Mini could easily tip over if it starts to tilt. These things have always bothered me, but I just lived with the kickstand because that was all until I checked again recently. There I found the Cxmount vertical desktop mount for Mac Mini (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z6D3D14). It was crafted to not only perfectly fit the shape of the Mini but also the fan, using it as a fulcrum. And this thing is HEAVY, it's solid metal, and when you pick it up you FEEL it. It has a soft bottom that keeps it in place. And best of all, it's actually cheaper than that. So if you've recently bought a Mini or are looking for something to help with ventilation I'd say no to this or you'll be disappointed.
