I think the other reviewers are dissatisfied with this product. For the price I think this is a great example of its kind. A few notes to clarify some of the complaints from other reviewers. Direct DVD burning is ALWAYS slow due to the speed of the media.2. With no disk, there is no buffering or job caching, resulting in slower times. My opinion is: Good - Great features, intuitive operation, multiple rear inputs (RCA), DivX playback (WOW!), picture display and MP3 playback. Also uses almost all types of DVD formats. I've found that DVD-RW gives me the most flexibility in editing and adding features. The bad news is that I hate typing in headings with the numeric keypad on the remote. I'm not sure if there's an alternative, but I really hate it. Other than that, this is a great device. I have transferred many things from tape to DVD with this unit. No coasters. I had a few issues with bad media, but a simple power outage resolved those issues. For the price and for what it is I would wholeheartedly recommend it!
