I love this tank. The length of the tank gives my small fish plenty of swimming space and the surface area for oxygen exchange is larger than other 5 gallon tanks. The glass is transparent, the tank is well made. This is a good package for the price. I plan to use it for a long time with an adjustment. Filter. The filter comes already installed, with the cylinders below and the filter cartridges on top. The filter inlet is at the bottom, which means the water flows through the cylinders before being filtered by the cartridges. The tray's plastic insert and built-in slots do not allow for adjustment of this setting. It's a problem because it's the other way around. Cylinders for the growth of beneficial bacteria should be after the water filter cartridges. Right now there is a lot of nasty smelly build up in the cylinders which is messing up my water parameters and preventing good bacteria from growing. That doesn't mean you shouldn't buy this tank pack. Here's the change I'm planning. Remove the plastic compartment insert, put the foam in the inlet compartment to filter the water, then place the cleaned cylinders on the outlet side around the pump inlet where they will stay clean and the bacteria my aquarium needs will grow. I also bought the recommended heater but found it too powerful for this small tank and had to buy a smaller one.
