Review on MYLA by Andy Mitts

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very intuitive user interface with minimal learning curve

Easy to set up and use, I was able to get my first count within minutes of beginning counting. Having access to other data fields allows me to monitor progress during an experiment without having to switch screens or apps. The software is not as robust as other programs we have used so far (such as MBS) which makes it difficult sometimes to track colonies over time through changes in media recipes etc. It would be nice if you could see all your previous runs at once instead of just one day's worth. My laboratory has been using this system since April 2015 and it works great! We are currently looking into using the next generation version but haven't decided quite yet what that will look like. As mentioned above, easy setup and no additional equipment is needed - simply plugging in USB drives is enough to get started. This also means there is only limited training required before setting up our own colony counters. I love that it is so easy to use! It's very simple which makes me like this better then some other systems out there (I've used others). There are not many things about myla we don't really dislike but nothing comes around too often you know? We have been using MyLabs since March of 2014 now through April 2019 at our facility here where i work as an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist/COSHH Officer when needed - no problems yet though just starting off during COVID19 pandemic lockdown period.
