I bought this a few months ago for my home office. It was ready to go right out of the box β easy to set up, easy to use, and prints quickly and clearly. I bought high capacity toner to get more life out of it. Now at 22:00 the day before I have to go to court the printer decided it ran out of toner and stopped working entirely. It doesn't matter that he printed perfectly, and it doesn't matter that I haven't even printed two reams of paper. He insists he is out of toner and there is nothing I can do (reset the drum counter, close the sensor, try any other hack on the internet) to change his mind. This is a waste of money and resources and a huge hassle. The brother got too greedy. Making a printer unusable until you add more toner to it is not the way to win customers. Update: I bought an extended yield toner. It's 6:15 am this morning and I'm typing the final paperwork for an important presentation. Imagine - the printer has decided that it is running low on toner, so it will stop at any moment. I just hope I can verify the documents needed before it stops working. I would 100% prefer having lower quality documents than NO documents. Looks like I'm trying to print to FedEx or something.
