I have an old DVI only display (Dell 2005FPW) as a second monitor at 1680x1050 and nothing worked until I used this adapter (connected to a MacBook). Turned it on, everything lit up and I got strong. After about 6 months the display stopped waking up and after about a week everything stopped working. I also tried the HDMI connection on another device and had no luck either. So something died. I've now ordered a second one and hope it lasts longer (much cheaper than a new monitor and more adapters as USB-C displays are many times more expensive than this thing). Since everything but the USB connector failed (and I'm not using it), I decided to break this thing apart and see what it looks like inside. It's funny to see how almost everything is built into one chip. amazing things. The build quality is excellent both inside and out! I just wish I knew why it failed and if there is a way to prevent it.
