I have several small home servers (VMware ESXi, Unraid, and Windows) that I occasionally need a monitor on for OS updates or troubleshooting. Pairing that small monitor with a mini keyboard is a much simpler solution than a KVM switch with a full-size monitor and keyboard. I was able to power the monitor via USB directly from the host server (not sure if this is to be expected). Larger monitors (10+ inches?) seem to require an external DC adapter.
