From time to time I read an article about a mannequin bragging about never cleaning her gun. and it's still going strong after 2000 shots or so. Me? I clean my wife's guns and mine even though we've just fired a dozen shots at the range! I never want to think that next time I pull the trigger it might be cranked too high to fire. In my world of cleaning patches, there are never too few! There's nothing worse than going out. and have to cut up your t-shirt to make your own patches! Also, when I resorted to this trick, my t-shirt wasn't as clean as I'd like it to be when I wipe the barrel with a #9 Hoppe pistol. Actually the only problem I have is with my cheapness. because I don't want to invest in different patch sizes. So sometimes I have to put a .45 patch on a .22 barrel, which can mean halving the patch. or vice versa, which could mean you could try doubling the .22 patches in the cleaning rod slot.
