Let's talk a little about the UMC202HD, unlike the UMC22, because for many this is an important choice: 1) DAC 24 bit / 192 kHz instead of DAC 16 bit / 48 kHz - (DAC - Digital to Analog Converter). The bitness is important here, that is, 24 bits, which allows you to more correctly record files that are deeper in dynamics (loudness). The standard for files that are sent for mixing is 24 bits. Of course, there is no crime if there are 16, but the sounders usually swear at this. 2) A separate headphone volume control, unlike its complete absence on the UMC22. That is, you will not need to poke the mouse into the volume of Windows, but adjust it on the fly simply on the card itself, which is much more convenient. Despite the fact that the volume reserve on Windows may not be enough for the desired values. 3) Two hybrid inputs (simultaneously for Jack and XLR), unlike the UMC22, where there is ONLY an instrumental input for guitar and one hybrid for XLR, but without instrumental amplification, that is, it is only for a microphone. The UMC202HD can record simultaneously: 2 microphones, dynamic or condenser \ 1 microphone and 1 guitar \ 2 guitars at the same time. In the UMC22, more or less adequately, you can record ONLY 1 microphone and 1 guitar. 4) Both channels have instrumental amplification, in addition to the gain knob. That is, if an instrument is plugged in, then you simply press the line \ inst button and you have an additional gain on the guitar. This margin makes it possible to record quieter sound sources without loss in the useful signal. 5) Attenuator. This is the button for lowering the input signal pad, this is the so-called attenuator. If the sound source is too loud and the minimum gain is already set on the entire card, then clipping will appear, that is, going off scale. This is a very unpleasant jamb of the recording, if such a recording is then given to work, then it will be rejected and they will be told to rewrite it. Let's summarize. On the UMC22 you can write instrumental demos, sketches, audiobooks, vocals with a guitar as a draft of a future song, but for more serious work with music, it is still better to look at the UMC202HD and higher.
