Review on MIKKUPPA Key Shell Replacement for Buick Lacrosse, Regal, Verano Key Fob Cover + Screwdriver - Compatible with OHT01060512 by Omar Thorndike

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works with the old key with some modifications.

Fits my 2010 Buick Lacrosse CXS with button start. I disassembled my old key fob using needle nose pliers in the hole at the top with partial key exit (opened the pliers to open). After that, I just slowly separated the rest with my fingers. The key ring holder broke but the key case was still usable when my new case didn't fit. A new building opened. My computer circuit board fitted perfectly. The old key with the original holder did not work properly in the new shell (did not lock properly but was very tight). I decided to use the new holder body with my old key. I filed the edges with a 1/16" hex wrench to use as a punch to pull out the roll pin. I place the wrench assembly on a piece of wood with a hole in it for the pin to come out. Did this for both knots. I tried to fit the old key into the new key case's socket but the roll pin would not get in due to the slot on the old key's shank being a bit in the way.I then sawed off part of the shaft groove to secure the pin .I managed to get the pin in. Phew. Then I reassembled the body, remembering to turn the body of the body counter-clockwise to tighten the spring. (I started with the wrench turned inside out and turned halfway of the case body 360 degrees). Battery connected and checked. WORKING! I then screwed in a screw to hold it together and installed the emblem. A little more work than that I wanted to, but I have a new keychain that looks just like the original. This is made by the manufacturer of my original keychain. Oh I also used a marker to mark the wrong part number and FCC ID so as not to confuse the next owner. I kept the old one for this info. If you can do what I did, then do it. It's worth every penny.
