Review on πŸ“· Black Benro SystemGo Plus FGP18A Aluminum Tripod with Monopod Conversion by Andrew Frison

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Better than competitor Manfrotto

This Benro SystemGo Plus Travel Aluminum Tripod (FGP28A) was bought for travel. It was marked "used like new" by a Revain third party called VIDEO CAMERA CENTER for $150 ($50 less than a new tripod). As advertised, this FGP28A arrived in 'as new' condition as if it had never been touched - new packaging with tags attached etc. Came bagged in a well made padded case with pockets containing leg spikes and a shoulder strap. I have Gitzo 5543XL, Induro 404XL, Sirui P-424SR and now FGP28A. I have had an Oben AC-1441 and a Manfrotto 290XTA3 in the past. So I have experience with different brands of tripods, different price ranges and different skill levels. well made, lightweight, durable and versatile. It has a versatile center speaker and a convenient communications port. It cost 1/10th of what I paid for the Gitzo and 1/4th of what I paid for the Induro; but as with more expensive tripods, the FGP28A is well worth the price. It costs 150-200 dollars. On the other hand, the Manfrotto 290XTA3 costs around $120-$150, but it's not worth that money. I use the durable, timeless Gitzo for slider video and for architectural and studio photography with the 405 gear. I use the Induro for everything else except travel for which I will be using the FGP28A. I expect the FGP28A will last for many years as it will only be used for travel and anytime I need a small, lightweight gear set. I recommend this tripod for travel and light, infrequent use. Update: The tripod held up very well. My travel/hiking tripod. Use this tripod in lakes, mud and any terrain. Comes with spikes for added security. I also have two Gitzo tripods that I use in the studio (paid too much to break in the field). This is a good and reliable tripod for field work, heavy duty photography when hiking etc.

Pros
  • Tripods and Monopods
Cons
  • boring packaging
