CariFree offers a carefully curated line of products dedicated to improving oral health more seriously than any other company I've come across. I have pretty bad teeth so I take great care of them and put a lot of effort into finding the best products. So I chose CariFree. There are a number of reasons why this is absolutely superior to regular mouthwashes like Crest or Listerine. 1) It's alkaline. People often think teeth are coming back because of sugar; that's not the case. Sugar is fed by bacteria, which then convert it into acid. Therefore, it is quite obvious that it is desirable to neutralize this acidity, which rises sharply after eating any food, but especially after consuming/drinking sweet or sour beverages (sugar-free sweets are often full of acids to give them a " sour" taste). Most mouthwashes are actually acidic, as you can find with a quick Google search; According to Frey Smiles' blog, Listerine's pH is around 4 and Crest Pro-Health's is around 4.7. Neutral - pH 7. CariFree - pH 8.2) It does not contain alcohol. Alcohol is generally bad for you; It has been linked to oral cancer and can definitely cause dry mouth. Plus it's just disgusting in the mouth. 3) It is an antibacterial agent with no coloring. Xylitol is a universally effective antimicrobial, antiviral, and antifungal agent. Some research says you shouldn't eat xylitol, but it's a mouthwash, not chewing gum. Other important antimicrobials are alcohol and cetylpyridinium chloride. Alcohol is harmful for the reasons stated; CPC, on the other hand, can cause horrible tooth discoloration (and it did for me). 4) It contains fluorine. Many conditioners don't do this - you need to look carefully at the packaging. Enamel is a mineral composed of calcium, phosphate and hydroxide ions. In solution, like in your saliva, these ions come and go, but at a very slow rate (however, acidity increases this rate). Fluorine ions are more electronegative than hydroxide ions, so they return instead of hydroxide and hold the structure together more tightly (thereby reducing the rate at which they are released). In terms of application, I also like the taste and the fact that it doesn't contain any useless or potentially harmful coloring, flavoring or other additives like most other mouthwashes. It's pretty simple: a collection of really important ingredients that work well together. I would also like to add that although this product is very expensive, it was developed based on real science. such as Listerine are products that have been sold for years in forms very similar to their current form. CariFree has a hard time competing with these big companies, but they offer better products. Finally, I would recommend checking out their remineralizing toothpaste. As I mentioned earlier, there are three ions in your tooth enamel that are in salivary solubility equilibrium: calcium, phosphate, and hydroxide (replaced with fluorine). So it makes sense that adding one of these ions won't be enough if you really want to strengthen your teeth. CariFree Toothpaste contains bioavailable sources of calcium and phosphate ions that allow your tooth enamel to actually regenerate, rather than just slowing down its breakdown. Hope this helps you all.
