The original dimmer stopped working after a few months, but the lamp continued to burn. A few months ago, the original cable began to melt. Luckily we caught him before he started the fire. I went through all the replacement dimmer switch wires and settled on this one. It works exactly as described and is a great replacement for the original cable. It's nice to be able to dim the lamp again. It was also nice because it had quite a few lamp changes. We are happy with this purchase.
