Unfortunately for me they pick up too much toner. I need to use more toner than usual. I use them for this purpose only and after machine washing them in warm water in the pouch that came with them they still have a darker stain of my African American face complexion. I always clean my face first (with oil or makeup remover) and then wash and tone it (Dickinson's Witch Hazel) so it's no makeup. Because of this, I think they hold onto excess sebum, skin, etc. It takes a bit of getting used to holding them as you run your finger across your face as they are two layers and the two separate layers don't move in unison unless held. Place. as a concept, two different pockets and textures on both sides. I can't tell you how they wash off after using them as a makeup remover, but for the reasons above I don't recommend it.
