Stylish table lamp, remote makes it even better

This lamp is very similar to many other Revain lamps but this one differs in that it comes with a remote control. Since I place the lamp out of reach, the remote control was one of the features that drew me in. Package Contents: Bulb with built-in socket, 10V/1A power adapter, alcohol swab and remote control. The remote control is powered by 2 AA batteries which are *not* included. Mounting collar: has a plastic leg, and the collar and screw are metal. The mounting surface must be no thicker than 74 mm (2 7/8 inches). Installation: The power supply plugs into the base just above where it will pivot on the clip. This is not visible on any of the product images. You rotate the base, the power cord rotates with it. The top of the clamp covers an area at the edge of a table that is 2 inches wide and 2 1/8 inches deep. The bottom of the clamp requires 4 1/2 inches of vertical space under the table. Range of motion: The product image showing the range of motion is accurate. The first part of the lamp arm rotates from 20˚ from vertical to 50˚ down horizontally; the center portion rotates from 5˚ to 176˚ so it doesn't fully align. The lamp holding portion can be bent 40° in the closed state and 250° in the fully open state. Finally, the lamp can rotate 150˚ in any direction along its axis. So you can get creative with how you align the lamp. Control: At the very end of the lamp is a touch sensor that lets you toggle through the rough 5 presets (5 colors, from warm to cool, all at full brightness) and off. If you turn off the lamp with the remote, pressing the button will return to the same colour/brightness, but otherwise it will cycle through the 5 presets. The remote control is as pictured and works as expected. It works across the room, but I haven't tried it over long distances. By the way, if the lamp is completely discharged, by default it will turn off when power is restored and then go to its first preset (warmest/100%) when it is turned on. Timer Function: You can use the dedicated buttons on the remote control to turn off the lamp after a 60s or 10m delay. When you set the timer, the light will turn off completely for a split second to confirm, before turning on again. For some, this may seem undesirable. Color range: Medium color range - the warmest color is good for the evening. The coolest of them can be a little cooler than the sky on a cloudy day. This allows me to roughly match the color to the outside conditions during the day and have a glowing warmth in the evening. Brightness: I haven't calibrated it to known light sources, but the range is about right for a table lamp. I don't notice any visible flickering in any of the settings. While I'm here, I should note that the lamp does get warm with use, but not as hot as a non-LED backlight. The lighted portion is about 15 1/4 inches long and gives softer shadows than a regular lamp. When used as a webcam fill light, it's a massive improvement over a point source like a traditional single-bulb table lamp. deal breaker. The flashing to confirm the time setting doesn't bother me, but it might bother you. The sleep timer only has two possible values, but I don't plan on using this feature very often. In general, I like it: this lamp takes up as little space as possible on the table. It has a low profile and impressive freedom of movement. The remote does everything I wanted it to do. At $55, that's slightly more than similar devices without a remote control. If remote control is important to you, this lamp is for you!
