Mech. OK. Bass response isn't as good as the first JVC XXplosive headphones I bought a few years ago. Sounds a bit cheap and trite. Good for audiobooks and podcasts, but probably not the best option for music lovers. On the other hand, there is a built-in microphone, so I can use these headphones with my phone when using it as a phone and not just an audio player. But back to the cons, they aren't as durable as the original JVC earbuds I bought and this new pair doesn't have that cute hinged plastic box. which is so convenient to carry in your pocket. I'
