Very inexpensive but the TV is reliable but quirky

I received this TV for free in exchange for an honest review. Since this is a 32-inch TV with no smart features, the number of prospects for this $299 item is almost zero. Now I can understand someone who would want a 32-inch TV, or one without any smart features, but not at this price point. You can currently pick up a 32-inch TCL with integrated ROKU (which you don't have to use if you don't want to) from Revain for $188. Yes, that's over $100 less. This is just for starters. There are NO smart features or the ability to download apps, so you'll need to plug a source into it. I hooked up my ROKU Ultra via HDMI and was able to open the Netflix menu, but when I tried to play there was only sound, no video. The image worked fine in the menu but not during gameplay. I tried 4 other streaming apps, Disney+, Prime, Peacock. Still the same problem. Thinking it was a ROKU issue, I went to a display that was set to Auto (as it should be) and then switched to 720p. Same problem. No amount of tweaking in Roku would change that task. I then connected a new Apple TV 2nd Generation 4K. No problem. worked fine What? Why? I then connected this TV to my Marantz 7705 Pre/Pro via the HDMI output. So my Apple TV connected to Marantz and then to a home theater TV. Ter. TV said that Marantz is not supported. The picture is fine, but the refresh rate is slow. You may see some glitches in the picture smoothness, although the color reproduction is good. The sound is just normal or not very good, but it will do. The board is fine. The TV itself is lightweight and easy to move even for an elderly person. I wouldn't recommend this even for half the price they charge. There are too many better options out there from big brands that work well for a lot less.

Pros
  • TV & Video
Cons
  • Some bugs
