Silicone is soft and durable

I love the way my mid-century modern furniture looks. I like clean lines and a low profile. However, the clean lines lend themselves to sharp edges and corners, and the bottom profiles are perfect for my son to pull himself up and stand up on. Not every piece of furniture can be moved or hidden until it is no longer dangerous, especially my set top box. So I really need to think about protecting the edges from kids. I knew I needed something better than just a corner protector because the entire piece of furniture has a very long and sharp edge. This tape worked great. It was very easy to install. It just goes on like a sticker. And because it has thicker edges and a thicker center, it folds easily at 90ยฐ. It's easy to cut, so you can trim it for rounded corners and edges and adjust the length. The edges are very thick and definitely soft and tempting to chew on. I understand this is silicone, not foam. I definitely don't want it to be ripped to pieces and I'm worried my son might choke on some. The silicone is very thick and can be literally licked and bitten. I was very skeptical about using it on my furniture and not being able to remove it. I tested it on the back before using it in a higher profile area. It's detachable, but be sure to use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat this adhesive to make it easier to detach. And I've found that it's easier if you pull it very close to the furniture at an angle. I drew it the same way you would draw temporary 3M command strips from the wall. By heating it and pulling it at a very low angle to the furniture, I was able to successfully remove it without damaging my items.
