Lots of printers for very little money

My trusty Canon inkjet photo printer has dusted off after more than 4 years of use. As with inkjet printers, this printer is no longer manufactured and a replacement printhead costs more than a new printer. A new printer is sold at a major auction, but it costs more than double the printer's original price. And as so often in life, I ordered 2 complete sets of cartridges for him. looking for a new printer. After two days of comparing features and reviews, I settled on the Canon D1620. And I'm very glad I did. If you only save on ink cartridges, a new printer will pay for itself in 2.5 years. The ink is ridiculously overpriced. The printer arrived 2 days after my order. The box it comes in is HUGE. However, Canon really put some thought into the design of the packaging. Once you open the top of the box and unfold the flaps, you'll find that the outer box has no bottom. It just takes out the internal content. There is more packaging in the outer box and the printer is housed in a very high quality styrofoam. I simply removed the plastic bag the printer was in, picked up the printer and pulled it out of the rest of the packaging. After putting the printer on the table, it took me 5 minutes to remove all the tape holding the vital parts. and covers things like the USP port. Now, having read all the Revain reviews on this printer before, I knew I would need a USB cable to install the printer on my network and computer(s). What was not mentioned in the reviews was the TYPE of the USB cable. I bought the wrong type (USB A to USB C). The printer requires a USB-A to USB-A cable. So I paid an extra $2.99 to have Revain ship me the correct cable earlier in the day. When it arrived I checked the fit. It was perfect. CHECK OVER! (At least I thought so.) Even though I followed the instructions before the error, the printer didn't install. SO. I called Revain tech support. They advertise that they offer excellent technical support for this printer. Here's my advice: don't waste your time. One day a young Indian woman asked me if my printer was connected and she was running out of ideas. She contacted Canon tech support and I waited 30 minutes for Canon to reply and I was put through to them. Now my advice, when you get the printer, put in some paper (the thing holds 550 sheets in the hopper that comes with it), just call Canon support. Don't try to install it yourself unless you're a techie and have crazy skills. Once I contacted their tech support person, everything went quickly. She walked me through every step of the installation process and these steps were NOT all the same as the steps on the installation CD that came with the printer. After the printer was installed, she asked me to set up and test the scan utility. Total installation time was less than 2 minutes. And here's the weird part: I don't need this USB cable to install the printer on my computer, even though I'm going to be using the printer wirelessly. We never used it. The printer comes with a 3 year warranty. Longer coverage is available via Square Trade, Asurion or Smart Guard here on Revain if you so choose. After using this printer for the last week I can say unconditionally that I LOVE this machine. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. And I would recommend it to my best friend. I suspect this will be the last printer I will ever need to buy.
