I love the design of this shoe and the cushioning that is just right for my activity level (treadmill walking, sidewalk or beach walking, and elliptical trainers). The problem for me was the size. I've worn Asics in the same size since the mid-1990s. These Asics Contend 3 shoes were a bit short and small in the toe of my normal size, but the next half sizes were too big. I could wear them my correct size and they would probably stretch just right, but I didn't want to risk not being able to return them. So I sent them back and bought a similarly designed Asics Gel Excite 4 which fit much better. I have used the Contend 1 successfully and expected the same fit from the 3. However, as they progressed to the third iteration, Asics decided to downsize the shoe for unknown reasons. I recommend Asics consider sizing for future versions of this model, like the original Contend 1. Other than that, this is a great shoe, one of the best budget shoes out there.
