Returned - that's why

I ordered a KAVU Rope Sling Bag made of 100% 600D polyester. I liked the "Tranquil" color - turquoise blue. I also ordered a Meru bag. The reason I returned the bag to Kavu is that its design has serious flaws in terms of functionality: Pros: 1. I like the rope shoulder straps. They may seem uncomfortable, but they are there. (Aesthetics is in the eye of the beholder, but I also like the look of the straps.) Functionality = A+2 - I like polyester fabric. Repels stains and water. Easy-care. Functionality = A+3 - Very good quality zippers and plastic strap. Feature = A+4 - Hidden zip compartment inside is great, but it's small and there can be more than one, so there's room for improvement. Function = ACons:1. My biggest issue with the bag is that it has two zippered compartments that open in opposite directions. If you lay the bag on its front (or if you have it on its back and swing it forward) to open the zipped compartments, the largest compartment faces up for easy access. The other compartment faces down. To open it without throwing out the contents, you have to take out the bag, turn it in the opposite direction and then open the compartment. It's very annoying! This was the main reason for my return as I felt like I could only fully utilize one of the compartments. The other compartment should be reserved for things I never want to access, but if so, why carry it in a bag at all? Functionality = D2. The two zippered compartments aren't spacious and don't have "tons of storage space" as they advertise. That's why. In the largest compartment, the zip closes two thirds of the length of the compartment. Difficult to store and open. A better design would be to zip the edge of the bag to make the most of the space/compartment. Yes! The smaller of the two compartments is small and even less usable as it doesn't take up the full width of the bag, only two-thirds the width of the bag and is quite narrow with the zippered halfway up the compartment (again, not on the edge of the bag). Why didn't they design this compartment to fit the full width of the bag just like the other compartment? It does not make sense! Functionality = D3 - The smallest front pocket does not close with a zipper. Why not? Also, the velcro doesn't go through a full opening so the contents can easily fall out and the valve appears to be sticking out. At least they could spend 2 cents more and stick velcro all over the hole. Functionality = F4 - the valves hiding the zippers of the main compartments look aesthetically pleasing (they hide the zippers); However, they make it difficult to grab the zipper handles when you want quick access to those compartments. Awkward and annoying! Func = D5 - No water bottle holder inside or outside. Func = FI I really hope someone at KAVU reads this review. I WANTED to love this bag so much and it has so much potential to be a great bag. These design flaws are easy to fix and I hope they get fixed. I would love it if they do as I want this American product to be the best in the business.
