This is my first time trying to "ring out" my monitors and what can I say? Easy to set up, get your calibration file and run the awesome room EQ wizard. REW has a pretty difficult learning curve, so dive into the tutorials, but it's worth it. Export your patches to the system-wide equalizer APO (Windows only, I'm sure there is a Mac equivalent) and listen to the results. My monitors just sound like that. transparent. for lack of a better word. Turn patches on and off, remembering that turning them off makes the sound a little louder. Adjust the volume and you will hear it. Smooth, consistent response regardless of material. I dared to listen to the latest mixes I've made. There was no firmness in the bass, spikes in the upper mids and too much hiss. No wonder these mixes weren't ported to other people's cars/home stereos/devices etc. Keep in mind that there's a lot to learn and I've only scratched the surface, but do your research, experiment with monitor placement, curve houses " and shape your own ear. When you start, head to the Sweet Getting spots will be obvious.Such is the satisfaction of buying the right microphone!
