If your budget doesn't include buying a pair of prescription readers this is a pretty good substitute. I've tried many, many pairs and found that none of the commercially available readers are very accurate when it comes to magnification. I compared the +1.5 readers side by side and found that none differed from one pair to the other. They were pretty close to my recipes. Since I wanted them to be next to the bed as an extra pair, they are close enough. I like them a lot in terms of looks. They are light, sit well on my nose and are fairly unobtrusive when it comes to rims. With a very fair complexion and ice blue eyes, I hate heavy, dark, or light frames. They are thin and go well with my color scheme. I would give them 5 stars if they really were +1.5 (they are a bit lower). As I said, they will be suitable for the use I have planned for them.
