
Some new cars have complicated cables to connect the battery to the locking plates, which are often outrageously expensive ex works and are not available elsewhere. When the acid fumes from an aging battery contaminate the end of the cable with corrosion, sometimes there's no choice but to make a new one, and this is just one instance where this works well. I would also make it my first choice for use on boats where soldering the ends and sealing with heat shrink tubing is practically a must; tinned conductors melt instantly when properly heated with a little extra solder.
