I opened the spray bottle and sniffed. Much to my surprise, there really isn't much smell that would deter a pet from chewing on anything. Then I poke my finger in to try, first nothing, then I tried a bit more and finally I felt an unpleasant taste. It will take a while to try so I'm assuming my cat will still eat my artificial plants before she learns not to! It's not pungent, not pungent, not very bitter, just unpleasant. There is a strange taste in the mouth. We have a kitten that eats and not just chews all of my artificial plants, especially all of the herb spike fillers. I tried spraying cat scratch repellent, which I've never tried before, and not only did it scratch the furniture, it also ate and vomited the artificial plants! I'm not sure if this would work as I really thought it would have a bad smell that would discourage them from even licking or chewing on the plants. I need to update my rating. Fingers crossed.
